Eugene Agichtein

Dr. Eugene Agichtein is a Winship "Distinguished Research" Professor of Computer Science at Emory University, where he founded and leads the Intelligent Information Access Laboratory (IR Lab): http://ir.cs.emory.edu. Dr Agichtein's research spans the areas of information retrieval, natural language processing, data mining, and human computer interaction. Eugene has co-authored over 100 publications, and has been recognized by multiple awards, including the A.P. Sloan fellowship and the 2013 Karen Spark Jones Award from the British Computer Society, Test of Time awards from WSDM 2018 and SIGIR 2018, and best paper awards from SIGIR 2011 and SIGMOD 2006. Eugene served as Program Co-Chair of the WSDM 2012, WWW 2017, and WSDM 2021 conferences. In January 2019, Dr. Agichtein joined Amazon as part time "Amazon Scholar" (principal scientist) to work with the Alexa Shopping Science team.
